My Cinderella Syndrome

She twirled her wand and the mice were transformed into steeds and coachmen. She cut an effortless arc across the sky with it again and the pumpkin was replaced with a golden coach, of such splendour that had never been seen… A clap of her hands and the girl in the rags had been morphed into an enchantress… The piece d rĂ©sistance were the glass slippers… And it had been with a grateful smile at her fairy godmother that Cinderella had set off to the Great Ball in search of her happily ever after…

No one noticed the silent tear that trickled down one pink, plump cheek watching her god-daughter ride off into the distance; wandering, “Do fairy godmothers’ ever get their Cinderella moments?”

They do....i agree with Sam..coz these moments can be put down as history..as they see before their own eyes...the history repeats itself...only the person who executes them changes...
Coming to think of it...wherez my Fairy godmother.... make her come to me soonnnnn ;)

First time to hear that question, now i'm also wondering.

Perhaps she also had one during her younger years. ;0)

You don't need to be cinderalla and go to a ball or even meet a Prince Charming (god forbid!) to experience magic. Some people experience it (manifold) when they bring joy to others. And I strongly suspect the Godmother could've belonged to that special category.

I loved the though though. Cute post!

A beautiful illustration.:)

***“Do fairy godmothers’ ever get their Cinderella moments?”

There are moments when 'fairy godmothers' create an opportunity for others to have the moments which they have missed when they were younger. And just to see her ride off in the distance gives her such joy that she has blessed someone with hope and happiness.

I guess this happens with some of us at times. Having lost an opportunity before. We now see how we can help others not miss their own big balls.

If i make sense to you. this is what i perceive from 'the syndrome'.

A beautiful expression bubbles.

Cheers!:D

Hmm... I think the fairy godmother already has her special someone....the angel god-dad!!!

Maybe he doesn't say it enough...maybe he doesn't do enough...but he'll always love the fairy godmother....through rain and through sunshine...through happiness and through laughter...

weird sense of discomfort...reminds me that its a mean world where one has to let go of something to give someone else something...
gosh!does that make sense?

Finally someone who is as equally obsessed with Cinderella as I. And since people usually have godparents, I am trusting there is a fairy godfather out there somewhere.

Do they realize that what they have given their god daughter is nothing but a short lived illusion that shall come to an end as soon as the clock chimes midnight?

well there is no definite answer to this. two ways to look at it:
the godmother had her moment and knows how special and wonderful it is and thus goes about gifting others a taste of it.... thus harboring a special moment.
the flip side, she never got it, she wanted it.. badly but never got it.. and thus knowing what it feels like never to have had it, she goes around bring in those moments for the ones who need it, knowing how much they really want and need.
The choice to believe is yours!! you chose happy or sad???

the bottomline is the fairy godmother oversees cinderella and gifts her with a precious moment and a life changing one!!!

happy????

John F said...

The story ended at her marrying the prince. Is that really happily everafter?

A wonderful thought!Sometimes life goes off in doing so many things that when realization dawns,it is just too late...

ad libber said...

Coming to think of it (you see, this is what I give thought to during Maths classes), the Prince should have a fairy godfather too, right? Maybe he hooked up with fairy godmother during the ball too.

true but. i think fairy godmothers should be commemorated. and given their chance to find the prince.

Kriti said...

whoa...that's something to think about...so many people do things for others unconditionally without asking for anything great in return.
But i'd like to think that they, more than anyone else, would get back twice the amount they gave in the first place :)
